Orange Park, across the river

Orange Park is a small town in Clay County, on the west bank of the St. Johns River across from Mandarin. "Orange Park" also refers to the larger area around it: Lakeside, Bellair-Meadowbrook Terrace, Ridgewood, Doctors Inlet and the newer subdivisions of Oakleaf Plantation to the west. Park Avenue (US 17), Kingsley Avenue, Wells Road and Blanding Boulevard carry most of the traffic, with Orange Park Mall and the hospital on Kingsley in the middle.

It's a different county from ours, but the Buckman Bridge makes it close. Orange Park is one of the easier places for us to reach on the west side of the river.

Homes here, and the lock problems they bring

The housing is mixed:

  • Older homes in the town and Lakeside, many from the 1960s through the 1980s, often have worn knob locks, loose deadbolts and back doors that no longer latch cleanly.
  • Apartments and duplexes along Blanding and Wells Road, where renters get locked out and owners turn units between tenants.
  • Newer subdivisions in Oakleaf Plantation, where the first job after closing is usually a rekey, and many owners add a keypad lock.

For older homes, we'll often repair a sticking or loose lock instead of replacing it. When a lock is past saving or you want a sturdier deadbolt, we can do a lock change on the same visit.

Rentals and military moves

NAS Jacksonville is only a few miles north of Orange Park on US 17, so many Navy families live here, often in rentals that change hands with each PCS move. That makes lock turnover important:

  • Landlords and property managers: rekey between tenants. It's the only way to know the last tenant's copies stop working. A lock rekey is quick, and we can key a whole unit to one key.
  • Tenants: check your lease before changing any locks, and ask your landlord for permission in writing. We'll need to see your ID and the lease.

Our technicians carry DBIDS credentials, so we can reach vehicles on NAS Jax.

Car lockouts

Car lockouts bring in a lot of our Orange Park calls. Keys get locked in cars at Orange Park Mall and at the shopping centers along Blanding, or shut in the trunk with the groceries. We come to the car and open it with Lishi picks instead of a slim jim, so nothing gets bent, scratched or unplugged.

Small businesses on Park Avenue and Blanding

Shops, restaurants and offices line US 17 and Blanding Boulevard. Their lock problems are simple but urgent: a manager locked out before opening, a key that left with a former employee, or a glass storefront door whose lock has started to stick. We handle business lockouts and can rekey your doors quickly so you don't have to close. If several people need different access, we can set up keys so each person opens only the doors they need.

How we get to Orange Park

From our base in 32258 we take I-295 west across the Buckman Bridge. That puts us at US 17 on the Orange Park side, a few minutes from most addresses in the town. For Oakleaf we continue along I-295 or head west on Wells Road or Blanding. A typical trip is 25 to 45 minutes. A crash or rush-hour backup on the Buckman is the main thing that slows us down, and we'll tell you if it will.

What affects the price

The price depends on the job, the number of locks, and the vehicle or hardware type. Crossing into Clay County doesn't change how we work: you get the quote on the phone first, and our pricing page explains the details. You get the full price on the phone before we drive out, and we confirm it before any work starts.

Frequently asked questions

Do you really come out to Orange Park from the other side of the river?

Yes. Orange Park is directly across the Buckman Bridge from our base, so the drive is often shorter than people expect, usually 25 to 45 minutes. Bridge traffic at rush hour is the main variable, and we'll give you a realistic window when you call.

We're moving into an Orange Park rental after a PCS move. Should the locks be rekeyed?

Yes, ask your landlord or property manager to rekey before you move in, or get written permission to have it done. Rentals near NAS Jacksonville change hands often, and you have no way of knowing how many old keys are out there. Rekeying is quick and costs much less than new locks.

I locked my keys in the car at Orange Park Mall. Can you come to the lot?

Yes. Tell us which entrance or store you're parked near, plus the year, make and model. We open the car with Lishi picks instead of a slim jim, so nothing gets bent, scratched or unplugged. Have your ID and registration ready, since we confirm the car is yours.
