How we price a job
We give you one all-in number for the job you describe. It covers the trip to you, the labor and any parts we talked about on the phone. If there's a trip charge, it's already inside that total, never added at the door.
If something on site is different from what we were told (a second lock, a damaged door, a high-security cylinder), we stop, explain what changed, and give you the new price. Nothing happens until you say yes. You get an itemized invoice that matches your quote, with no surprise fees.
Lockouts
For a car lockout, house lockout or business lockout, the price depends on:
- The lock. A standard door lock or car door opens quickly. High-security locks, deadbolts with anti-pick pins, and some newer vehicles take longer and special tools.
- What's locked. A trunk-only lockout or a car with keys locked in a running engine can be different from a plain door opening.
- Time of day. Calls near closing time can cost more than a visit earlier in the day.
- Distance. Mandarin, Southside and Bartram Park are closest to us. Jacksonville Beach and Orange Park are longer trips.
If a lock has to be drilled (rare, and only with your OK), the new lock or cylinder is extra, and we tell you the cost before we start.
Rekeying and changing locks
Rekeying keeps your existing locks and changes the pins so old keys stop working. It's almost always less expensive than buying new hardware. The price depends on how many cylinders you have (count every deadbolt, knob and garage entry), and whether you want all doors on one key.
Changing locks costs more because you're paying for new hardware. The brand and security grade matter. A basic Kwikset deadbolt is a very different price from a Medeco or Mul-T-Lock high-security cylinder. Smart locks and keypad deadbolts add setup time for the app and codes.
How to spot a bait-and-switch price
Be careful with any locksmith ad that promises a very low starting price. A common scam quotes a small "service fee" on the phone, then adds labor, "high-security" charges and parts once the door is open. Ask these questions on every call:
- What is the total price, including the trip?
- What's the legal name of your business?
- Will you try to pick the lock before drilling?
- Do you take cards, and will I get an itemized receipt?
A fair locksmith answers all four without hesitating. Read more in our guide to choosing a locksmith in Jacksonville. For your exact price, call (904) 509-0907 or text us a photo.

Frequently asked questions
Do you charge a trip fee or service-call fee?
Not as a surprise. Any trip charge is already included in the total we quote on the phone, so the number you hear is the number you pay for the job we discussed. If the job turns out different on site, we explain the change and you approve it before we start.
Does the time of day change the price?
Sometimes. Calls near closing time can cost more than a visit earlier in the day. Either way, you hear the full price on the phone first.
Why don't you list one fixed price for every job?
Because the same job can differ a lot. A lockout on a 2005 sedan and one on a new SUV with a deadlock system take different tools and time, and a rekey for one door is not the same as six. A quote based on your details is more honest than a teaser price that grows on site.
How can I pay?
We take cash and credit or debit cards, and you get an itemized receipt with our business name on it. Property managers and businesses with regular work can ask us about billing options.
